Beets Are The New _______? They're Trying, Okay...

 We currently have 8 oz. Love Beets packs in the Produce section for only .99 cents! Amazing bargain on this item if you check around town. They are Organic/non-GMO, already cooked and kinda hip. Well...

Beets are a good source of iron and other nutrients, but if you're not so crazy about beets, like many people, just toss 'em in the blender with berries and a favorite juice for smoothies! Freeze them first for a more frosty texture.

On the other hand, old school beet fans can put these in a jar with vinegar & hard boiled eggs-- you know, tavern-style like back in the day; way back in the day!

Or just slice them on a salad. Beets just need to be loved.

Whip Up A Miracle Mayo Idea!

Excited about this new balsamic reduction vinegar in our *NOSH section. It's a white balsamic vinegar, meaning it's clear-- so don't let the black squeeze bottle mislead you, okay. "Reduction" means it's concentrated & sweeter besides tangy. This one is also lemon infused and Organic!

Our **foodie idea of the week here is adding some of this stuff to mayo for a serious miracle gourmet whip if you get the drift here...

A perfect mayo companion might be an Organic mayonnaise like one we also just happen to have!

How much balsamic to use is up to you. Start with a dollop of mayo in a small bowl, stir in a squirt of balsamic and adjust to your taste from there; just as you would with salt or any condiment.

Great base for making your own tartar sauce, a salad dressing or just on a BLT sandwich! It's healthy and you'll SAVE BIG on these items and more at Grocery Outlet!

Mysterious Mint Appearances...

 

Yes, we seem to post about ice cream a lot. 

We like to!

The latest phenomenon in this magical part of the frozen section is the appearance of 'mint' in various items. 

Two Organic options include a Pink Peppermint ice cream as well as a non-dairy Coconut Milk based Mint Chip (chocolate chip). I took some of the coconut stuff home and made a mint chocolate chip pina colada with it. Try it! It doesn't suck.

We also have a Mint Fudge swirl offering in "Real Ice Cream". Nice when they emphasize it's 'real'. Just roll with it, because we're talking ice cream with fudge. Real enough for me.

Not so crazy about mint? Well, just realize that mint is an ancient tummy ache remedy. So, if you end up eating an entire tub by yourself on the couch because the Olympics is over now, the mint's gonna help get you through this. Feel better already?
