Tuesday's Shopping Dash event was a blast as 7 teams from Tri-Cities area Police & Fire agencies competed for the biggest savings with all food and proceeds going to Second Harvest Tri-Cities Food Bank.
With one shopping cart and $100 per team, the teams had 5 minutes to load up with items with the best discount pricing per Grocery Outlet's savings index.
Teams were represented by Kennewick PD (with 2 teams), Richland PD, Franklin Co. Sheriff's Dept., Pasco FD and Kennewick FD (with 2 teams).
A KPD crew (pictured) had the winning run with $362 in savings, followed by the 2 KFD teams who ran neck and neck with the Engine 1811 crew edging out at $215.39 over KFD "Team 1" at $212.78.
A good time was had by all with Second Harvest representative- Jean Tucker on hand to accept a check from our overall Independence From Hunger - July Food Drive, along with all cartloads of food gathered from the event.
We'd like to thank the participating public safety folks for bringing the fun to this food drive event! Also, many thank you's to all our customers who contributed throughout July!
Special thanks to Numerica Credit Union who helped sponsor our Shopping Dash Event, and also to KEPR for their coverage and news feature on the the event!
