Braising (slow cooking in liquid) is a popular way to prepare lamb shanks.
Here's how I do mine:
Season shanks with salt, pepper & garlic powder.
Brown/sear seasoned lamb shanks in
bacon fat in a skillet. Braise all day in a deeper pot with red wine, chicken stock and
Worcestershire sauce-- with garlic cloves, bay leaves and star anise. Serve
with rice. Reduce the braising liquid... Baaa!
